Welcome to the Rise Regardless Podcast

Much too often, we hear elaborate success stories without any mention of the formidable struggles that have undoubtedly accompanied them. In the exceptional cases where we do learn of the struggles, they are portrayed as a one-time obstacle when the reality is that struggles are incessant and inevitably buffet our paths.

Here, we share the unfiltered stories of how resilient individuals of diverse backgrounds have endured their respective obstacles with fortitude, emerged triumphant, and prepared themselves for any other obstacles to come.

If you're ready to triumph over adversity, join us in rising regardless!

    About Us

In 2019, Patrisse Chan felt compelled to start the Rise Regardless podcast.

Early in the year, Patrisse’s good friend, Cecilia Pang, divulged the profound hardships she’d experienced the past year, specifically a series of inexplicable lung collapses. Recognizing the value in stories — experiences — like Cecilia’s, Patrisse knew what she had to do almost immediately.

A mere few months later, alongside Cecilia’s endorsement, Patrisse created the Rise Regardless podcast. The goal? To disseminate the resilience stories of unsung heroes, encouraging others to rise regardless of all shackles of self-doubt and detrimental social constructs.

Today, Rise Regardless is much more than just a podcast; we’re a community of resilient individuals.

    Our Series

Rise Regardless has 2 unique and complementary episode series: Experience and Elevate. While Experience is interview styled, Elevate is tangible tips focused. With these 2 series, we’re able to thoroughly and effectively shed light on topics that not only matter, but are also intrinsically intertwined with our core value of resilience, such as living purposefully, working productively, and prioritizing mental and physical well-being.

We’re dedicated to diversity & inclusion.

Creating a diverse and inclusive community is more than a commitment of ours; it’s our strength. Take our Experience episodes for example, our featured guests come from backgrounds that vary by race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, social background, disability, sexual orientation, and national origin. So when we say we welcome everyone, we truly mean everyone.

Propelling this positive social impact, we have an intimate team of 3 based in Vancouver, Canada. Not only do they each exemplify resilience, but they also work together to galvanize others into being their more resilient selves. Here’s what Patrisse, Zoey, and Eunice are about:

    Patrisse Chan

    Host & Creator

Patrisse is a modern-day storyteller, intersectional activist, and vehement champion of individuals (especially women and people of colour) in the tech industry from a non-traditional background. Pursuing her Bachelor of International Economics and Master of Management, Patrisse also works with immigrant business owners to help them restructure their business model and bridge the cultural gap, while encouraging them to retain and embrace their own unique origins (that’s a no to assimilation!). In her leisure time, you can spot her hiking, learning new languages, and engaging in lively discussions on ethics and strategic management!

    Zoey Li

    User Interface Design

Zoey is a creative visionary who is passionate about empowering both low-income households and individuals grappling with physical and mental health issues. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business while learning UI/UX on the side, Zoey’s ultimate goal is to use design thinking to solve the everyday problems humans face. Currently, she’s working with interdisciplinary teams in a local innovation hub to mitigate detrimental effects related to medication discompliance. When Zoey isn’t creating websites using HTML/CSS or designing logos for clients, you can find her at a local café or restaurant trying out the newest menu additions!

    Eunice Wu

    Graphic Design

Eunice is a digital innovator and Doctor of Pharmacy candidate who interwines her seemingly polar opposite interests of contemporary art and healthcare into one passion: finding creative solutions and researching new medications for mental illness. While studying full-time, Eunice also carves her niche in the marketing industry, namely spearheading the content creation of her media brand, @EditMyReality, and freelancing through her marketing company, Linian, in Vancouver, Calgary, San Francisco, and New York. When she isn’t hitting the books, she'll definitely be either hitting speed bags at the gym or binge eating Vancouver’s yummiest foods!

    Adversity has nothing on you.

This is the ultimate guide to Rise Regardless episodes, including both Experience (interview-styled) and Elevate (tangible tips-focused) episodes.
